Eligibility criteria
- Must hold an LL.B. degree (3-year or 5-year integrated course) from an institution recognised by the Bar Council of India
- Must have a minimum of 3 years of practice as an advocate, completed on or before 23 February 2026
- Age limit: 22 to 35 years for General category candidates
- Age relaxation: up to 37 years for OBC (Bihar domicile), up to 40 years for SC/ST and unreserved women candidates
- Must be a citizen of India
How to apply
- Visit the BPSC online portal at bpsconline.bihar.gov.in
- Complete the One-Time Registration (OTR) using a valid email ID and mobile number (if not already registered)
- Log in and select the 33rd Bihar Judicial Services Examination application form
- Fill in personal, academic, and professional details including advocate enrolment number and practice certificate details
- Upload scanned photographs, signature, and relevant certificates in the prescribed format
- Pay the application fee of Rs. 100 through the online payment gateway
- Submit the application and download the confirmation page
Note: Candidates who do not use Aadhaar as their identification document must pay an additional Rs. 200 as biometric verification fee.
Important notes
- The selection process has three stages: Preliminary Examination (objective — 250 marks), Main Examination (descriptive — 1,050 marks across compulsory and optional papers), and Interview (100 marks)
- The preliminary exam consists of two papers: General Studies (100 marks) and Law (150 marks)
- Candidates qualifying the prelims will appear for the Mains, tentatively scheduled for September 2026
- The application deadline of 30 April 2026 allows adequate time for eligible candidates to apply — do not wait until the last day to avoid technical issues
